Buying a boiler with more KW than you need is a waste of money and costing more than it needs to Buying a boiler with less KW will mean you wont have the power for the amount of heating and hot water you need.
- If you have a smaller house with 2 bedrooms and only 1 bathroom, then we recommend a 24kW boiler which normally good enough to heat and supply hot water depending on usage.
- If you have a house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, we recommend a 35kW to 42kW boiler. This also depends on usage.
- For a 4 bedroom house with around 20 radiators, the we recommend a 42kW boiler is best suited for you house.
- KW is also known as the output, the higher number kW the more powerful the boiler will be.
Combi, System or Regular boiler?
Along with deciding on the KW, correct fuel for your boiler (oil, electric, gas, LPG,biomass) you also have to decide on a Combi, System or Regular (Conventional) boiler. Each boiler is very individual in different ways.
Combi boiler – would not be suited in a large home that requires lots of hot water as it only has a single flow but would be great in a property with 2 bathrooms as it heats hot water on demand.
System boiler/ Regular boiler- would be best suited for a larger home with more than 2 bathrooms which requires a higher demand of hot water as it stores some in a cylinder.
Along with looking what boiler you need always look into insulation, smart controls and annual boiler servicing. All of which will help reduce energy bills and energy wastage.
