How Long Does It Take To Install A Boiler?
How long will it take to fit a boiler?
Is it time to replace your old boiler? The most common question is “How much time is it going to take from start to finish to fit my new boiler? The answer is a very difficult question!! There are a few thing you need to consider. Here we answer the question as best we can:
“How long will it take to install a boiler?“
Same type of boiler in the same location
The time can vary to fit a new boiler as it all depends on how complex the installation is. Usually if you have a boiler swap where you replace your old boiler with a new boiler of the same type and do not change the location of the boiler.
The installation could be 1 to 2 days.
This is assuming that there are no complications with the rest of your system or house.
You can get a fixed boiler price and choose a date on the calendar which suits you best through the boiler central website.
Moving your boiler to a new location in your home could mean the engineer would have to change the existing pipework or install new pipework.
This would be to route the boiler to the new location and cut off the existing pipework.
This could add on half a day or another full day of additional time.
But take into account that the further away from the original location then the more time it will take as more pipework might be required.
New boiler type
Combi boilers take roughly 1 day to install as a first time fit.
System boilers take roughly 2days to install as a first time fit.
Regular boilers take roughly 2days to install as a first time fit.
Remember this is only a rough time guide considering the engineers don’t bump into any problems.
If you want to change the type of boiler you currently have then this is known as a “system upgrade”.
The time it can take to complete the installation can depend on what type of boiler you’re changing to.
If you change from a system or conventional boiler to a combi boiler then the hot water cylinder and cold water storage tank will need to be removed. As soon as the cylinder is removed, the engineer will need to re-pipe the central heating system to accommodate the combi boiler. This is usually a minor job with very little time needed.
However, if you’re changing from a combi to a system or conventional boiler then this is a much more complicated installation. It is likely to need extra time to install the cylinder and additional pipework. This could take 2 and a half days to four days to install.
